•An earned doctorate in Chinese literature and culture, or a closely related field
•Deep knowledge of Chinese literature and culture, based on a solid control of sources as demonstrated through close
reading of written or visual text
•Knowledge of current theoretical paradigms and research methodologies of the field
•Commitment to interdisciplinary research
•Quality record of published original and innovative research
•Ability to use basic instructional technology (Canvas, Box, etc.)
•Ability to teach content courses in Chinese
•Knowledge of either a second Asian or European language
•Background in translation, translation studies, environmental humanities, or science studies
•Ability to contribute to SILC-wide courses on literary and cultural theory
•A commitment to cultivating and supporting a diverse faculty and student population
