The Wabash College Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a Byron K. Trippet tenure-track assistant professor of Chinese and Asian Studies, to start July 1, 2017. Research area open. We seek a generalist who can teach courses in both Chinese language and Asian Studies. Ph.D. in hand at time of appointment, native/near-native fluency in Chinese and English, and evidence of excellence in teaching required.

The successful candidate must be dedicated to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting with a diverse student body, to ongoing scholarship, and to developing and leading a successful Asian Studies program. Teaching load is six courses per year, balanced between language and topics in Asian Studies, and including periodic contributions to all-college courses. Expectations include teaching a broad range of courses, leading short-term study trips for students, and seeking out cross-disciplinary opportunities.

The salary is competitive and generous faculty development support is available.
